Which hero to put every gild into, at every point in Clicker Heroes 1.0e11, from your first transcension through to the Ace Scouts. Enter your gold below and the chart tells you where you should be. Adapted from the community e10 chart and extended past Yachiyl.

How gilding works
What a gild does
A permanent +50% damage bonus attached to one specific hero.
- Gilds drop from zone bosses every 10 zones past 100, and they stack: 200 gilds on one hero is +100x that hero's damage.
- A gild only helps the hero it is sitting on, and moving one costs Hero Souls.
- So the whole game of gilding is this: exactly one hero is your damage dealer at any moment, and every gild you own should be on it.
- Before your first transcension you will not have the Hero Souls to move gilds around freely. Get lucky gilds on one of the Power 5 (Treebeast, Ivan, Brittany, Samurai, Seer) and level that hero instead.
When to re-gild
Only when you can see monster health bars.
- While you are instakilling, extra damage does nothing at all. Re-gilding during that stretch spends Hero Souls on damage you cannot use.
- Once monsters start surviving your hits, switch to the optimal hero for your gold and move your gilds across.
- The ancients calculator can hold back 80 Hero Souls per gild so a re-gild does not eat the souls you were saving for ancients.
Ascending and transcending
What to do once even the optimal hero cannot keep up.
- When you cannot keep instakilling even after switching heroes, re-gilding and burning cooldowns, it is time to ascend.
- When ascending no longer earns new Ancient Souls, check "Next AS" on the last tab, it is time to transcend.
- Always ascend before you transcend. Any Hero Souls gained during your final ascension are lost otherwise.
- The transcension viewer shows Hero Soul and Ancient Soul gains per ascension, which makes that call easier.
Reading the chart
The columns
Four columns and one rule.
- Gold is log10, so the column shows exponents rather than amounts. A row listed at e442 needs 1e442 gold, which is the number after the "e" in your gold display.
- From and To level are where to start and stop leveling that hero. Past the target, the next row is more damage per gold.
- Approx. AS is roughly the Ancient Souls you would have on arrival. A sanity check rather than a gate, and it stops being listed past Xavira.
- The rule: find the last row whose gold requirement you have met. That hero gets every gild you own.
Skipping rows
Skipping is expected. Two upgrades are worth backtracking for.
- If your damage is high enough that you are still instakilling, blow straight past rows. Nothing is lost.
- Two upgrades are worth going back for regardless, and both are flagged in the chart: Bomber Max at level 100 for +50% gold found, and Gog at level 100 for +50% DPS on all heroes.
- Heroes reappearing later in the chart is not a mistake. Heroes gain 10x multipliers at level milestones and costs scale, so a hero that fell off can become the cheapest damage again.
The six phases
The chart looks like 59 arbitrary rows. It is really six patterns.
1. The e10 climb
Hire each new hero at 1,000, gild it, push to 1,500, move on. Mechanical and fast. Two upgrade detours matter: Bomber Max and Gog, both at level 100.
e35 to e295
2. Wepwawet and Gog
The two leapfrog each other every ~500 levels as each picks up a new 10x multiplier. Ends when Gog runs out of multipliers at level 8,000.
e383 to e500
3. Solo heroes
The easiest stretch in the game. Each new hero is so much stronger that you hire it at level 1, move every gild across, and ride it to the next one.
e500 to e25,500
4. Tomb Guardians
Cadu and Ceus buff each other, so you alternate, pushing whichever one unlocks the upgrade the other needs. Nine steps of ping-pong.
e25,500 to e45,500
5. The Maw and Yachiyl
Two enormous jumps. The Maw at level 1 outdamages a maxed Cadu by roughly 1e6750x. Yachiyl only overtakes The Maw at level 157,500, so you start it there.
e45,500 to e108,838
6. Ace Scouts
Rose, Sophia, Blanche and Dorothy rotate as each unlocks upgrades for the others. Run them bare first, then cycle through upgrade tiers, skipping most of Dorothy.
e108,838 onwards

| # | Optimal hero | From lvl | To lvl | Gold (log10) | ~AS | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 · The e10 climb · e35 to e295 | ||||||
| 1 | The Masked Samurai | 1,000-1,500 | 2,425 | e35 – e77 | 10 | Dread Knight is never optimal to gild. Sources list the start level as either 1,000 or 1,500; either is fine. |
| 2 | Atlas | 725 | 1,500 | e77 – e100 | 12 | From here on gold is written as the bare exponent, the number after the "e". |
| 3 | Terra | 1,000 | 1,500 | e100 – e115 | 14 | Most rangers and beasts become optimal at level 1,000. |
| 4 | Phthalo | 1,000 | 1,500 | e115 – e130 | 17 | |
| 5 | Orntchya Gladeye, Didensy Banana | 1,000 | 1,500 | e130 – e145 | 20 | |
| 6 | Lilin | 1,000 | 1,500 | e145 – e160 | 22 | The pattern by now: hire to 1,000, gild, level to 1,500, move on. |
| 7 | Cadmia | 1,000 | 1,500 | e160 – e175 | 24 | |
| 8 | Alabaster | 1,000 | 1,500 | e175 – e190 | 26 | |

| 10 | Chiron | 1,000 | 1,500 | e205 – e220 | 31 | ⚑ At Chiron 1,100, buy Bomber Max to level 100 for his +50% gold found upgrade. |
| 11 | Moloch | 1,000 | 1,500 | e220 – e235 | 34 | ⚑ At Moloch 1,100, buy Gog to level 100 for his +50% all-hero DPS upgrade. |
| 12 | Bomber Max | 1,000 | 1,500 | e235 – e250 | 36 | |
| 13 | Gog | 1,000 | 1,500 | e250 – e265 | 38 | |
| 14 | Wepwawet | 1,000 | 1,500 | e265 – e280 | 40 | From here, gilding follows Wepwawet upgrades. |
| 15 | Betty Clicker | 9,350 | 9,850 | e280 – e295 | 42 | Needs the Wepwawet upgrade at level 1,500, which boosts Betty heavily. |
| 16 | King Midas | 9,575 | 12,575 | e295 – e383 | 44 | Needs the Wepwawet upgrade at level 2,000. The wiki lists the end level as 13,575. |
| Phase 2 · Wepwawet and Gog · e383 to e500 | ||||||
| 17 | Wepwawet | 5,000 | 5,500 | e383 – e397 | 56 | Wep and Gog now trade off every ~500 levels as each gains a new 10x. |
| 18 | Gog | 6,000 | 6,500 | e397 – e412 | 59 | |
| 19 | Wepwawet | 6,000 | 6,500 | e412 – e427 | 61 | |
| 20 | Gog | 7,000 | 7,500 | e427 – e442 | 63 | |
| 21 | Wepwawet | 7,000 | 9,000 | e442 – e500 | 65 | Gog gets no more 10x multipliers after level 8,000, so stay on Wep from here. |
| Phase 3 · Solo heroes · e500 to e25,500 | ||||||
| 22 | Tsuchi | 1 | 16,975 | e500 – e1,000 | 75 | Hiring Tsuchi at level 1 costs less than 25 more levels of Wepwawet, and is instantly better. |
| 23 | Skogur | 1 | 33,975 | e1,000 – e2,000 | 200 | |
| 24 | Moeru | 1 | 68,025 | e2,000 – e4,000 | 500 | |
| 25 | Zilar | 1 | 136,075 | e4,000 – e8,000 | 1,500 | |
| 26 | Madzi | 1 | 204,175 | e8,000 – e14,000 | 2,750 | |
| 27 | Xavira | 1 | 391,375 | e14,000 – e25,500 | 6,000 | Last row with a meaningful Ancient Souls estimate. Past here, use a progression calculator. |
| Phase 4 · Tomb Guardians · e25,500 to e45,500 | ||||||
| 28 | Cadu, Tomb Guardian | 1 | 58,000 | e25,500 – e27,204 | — | Either Guardian works here. Cadu gets the first upgrade, which boosts Ceus. |
| 29 | Ceus, Tomb Guardian | 58,000 | 116,000 | e27,204 – e28,908 | — | At 116,000 Ceus boosts Cadu. The alternating pattern continues from here. |
| 30 | Cadu, Tomb Guardian | 116,000 | 180,000 | e28,908 – e30,789 | — | |
| 31 | Ceus, Tomb Guardian | 180,000 | 250,000 | e30,789 – e32,845 | — | |
| 32 | Cadu, Tomb Guardian | 250,000 | 326,000 | e32,845 – e35,079 | — | |
| 33 | Ceus, Tomb Guardian | 326,000 | 407,500 | e35,079 – e37,473 | — | |
| 34 | Cadu, Tomb Guardian | 407,500 | 495,000 | e37,473 – e40,044 | — | |
| 35 | Ceus, Tomb Guardian | 495,000 | 588,000 | e40,044 – e42,777 | — | The last Ceus upgrade unlocks here. After this, stay on Cadu until The Maw. |
| 36 | Cadu, Tomb Guardian | 588,000 | 680,625 | e42,777 – e45,500 | — | |
| Phase 5 · The Maw and Yachiyl · e45,500 to e108,838 | ||||||
| 37 | The Maw | 1 | 1,059,350 | e45,500 – e76,628 | — | The Maw at level 1 deals roughly 1e6750x the damage of Cadu at 680,625, for the same price. |
| 38 | Yachiyl | 157,500 | 1,253,675 | e76,628 – e108,838 | — | Yachiyl does less damage than The Maw until its first upgrade at 157,500, which is why you start it there. Reaching this row means you have beaten 1.0e10. |
| Phase 6 · Ace Scouts · e108,838 onwards | ||||||
| 39 | Rose | 9,700 | 75,250 | e108,838 – e114,500 | — | Because of 1.0e11 hero scaling, Rose is not immediately better than Yachiyl. She needs level 9,700. |
| 40 | Sophia | 1 | 150,525 | e114,500 – e127,500 | — | Run through each scout with no upgrades first. |
| 41 | Blanche | 1 | 170,200 | e127,500 – e142,200 | — | |
| 42 | Dorothy | 1 | 205,975 | e142,200 – e159,989 | — | |
| 43 | Rose | 602,000 | 752,500 | e159,989 – e172,987 | — | Now start collecting each scout first upgrade. This rotating pattern continues to the end. |
| 44 | Sophia | 677,250 | 903,025 | e172,987 – e192,486 | — | |
| 45 | Blanche | 752,500 | 978,200 | e192,486 – e211,977 | — | |
| 46 | Rose | 1,204,000 | 1,354,500 | e211,977 – e224,976 | — | Skip Dorothy 1: it costs more but deals less damage than Rose 2. |
| 47 | Sophia | 1,279,250 | 1,505,025 | e224,976 – e244,474 | — | |
| 48 | Blanche | 1,354,500 | 1,580,200 | e244,474 – e263,966 | — | |
| 49 | Rose | 1,806,000 | 1,956,500 | e263,966 – e276,964 | — | Skip Dorothy 2, same reason as before. |
| 50 | Sophia | 1,881,250 | 2,107,025 | e276,964 – e296,463 | — | |
| 51 | Blanche | 1,956,500 | 2,126,700 | e296,463 – e311,163 | — | |
| 52 | Dorothy | 1,956,500 | 2,011,975 | e311,163 – e315,954 | — | Dorothy 3 is worth taking, unlike 1 and 2. |
| 53 | Rose | 2,408,000 | 2,558,500 | e315,954 – e328,953 | — | |
| 54 | Sophia | 2,483,250 | 2,709,025 | e328,953 – e348,452 | — | |
| 55 | Blanche | 2,558,500 | 2,784,200 | e348,452 – e367,943 | — | |
| 56 | Rose | 3,010,000 | 3,160,500 | e367,943 – e380,942 | — | Skip Dorothy 4, same reason as before. |
| 57 | Sophia | 3,085,250 | 3,311,025 | e380,942 – e400,440 | — | |
| 58 | Blanche | 3,160,500 | 3,405,950 | e400,440 – e421,639 | — | |
| 59 | Dorothy | 3,235,750 | Forever | e421,639+ | — | End of the tabulated chart. |
Common questions
Frequently asked
The questions that come up every time this chart is posted.
- Do I need to re-gild on every row of the gilding chart?
- No. Re-gilding costs Hero Souls, and while you are instakilling, extra damage does nothing. Skip rows freely and only re-gild when monsters start surviving your hits. The chart maps what is optimal, not a checklist you have to complete.
- Why does the same hero appear more than once in the gilding chart?
- Heroes gain 10x damage multipliers at level milestones, and leveling costs scale as you go. So Wepwawet at 5,000 can fall behind Gog, then overtake it again at 6,000 once Wep picks up its next multiplier. Between e383 and e500 the two leapfrog every 500 levels or so.
- Should I gild Dread Knight in Clicker Heroes?
- No. Dread Knight is never optimal to gild at any point in the game. Skip it.
- Why do Wepwawet and Gog stop alternating after e442?
- Gog receives no further 10x multipliers after level 8,000, so it cannot leapfrog Wepwawet again. Stay on Wepwawet from e442 until Tsuchi at e500.
- Why is Tsuchi at level 1 better than Wepwawet at level 9,000?
- Hiring Tsuchi costs less than buying 25 more levels of Wepwawet at that point, and its base damage is on a different tier entirely. The same pattern repeats at The Maw, which at level 1 deals roughly 1e6750x the damage of Cadu at 680,625.
- Why do Cadu and Ceus alternate in the gilding chart?
- The Tomb Guardians buff each other: Cadu unlocks an upgrade for Ceus, Ceus unlocks one for Cadu, and so on. You push whichever one is next in line. Either is a fine starting point at e25,500, and after the last Ceus upgrade at 588,000 you stay on Cadu until The Maw.
- Why does Yachiyl start at level 157,500 instead of level 1?
- Yachiyl only overtakes The Maw once it reaches its first upgrade at level 157,500. Rose has the same problem against Yachiyl and needs level 9,700 first.
- Why is Dorothy skipped so often in the Ace Scouts rotation?
- Several of her upgrade tiers cost more gold than the equivalent Rose upgrade while dealing less damage, so Dorothy 1, 2 and 4 are worse buys than simply pushing Rose. She still appears three times in the rotation, so follow the rows as listed rather than writing her off.
- How many Ancient Souls do I need to reach a hero in the gilding chart?
- The Ancient Souls column is a rough guide through Xavira at about 6,000. Past that it is not meaningfully tabulated, since progression depends heavily on your outsider allocation and transcension count.
